Mini bio
After finishing high school in Paraná, I began my university studies, simultaneously pursuing two degrees: Electromechanical Engineering at the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional, and Bioengineering at the Universidad Nacional de Entre Ríos. But I really wanted to study physics, so in 1990 I moved to the city of Rosario.
I graduated with a Licentiate in Physics from the Universidad Nacional de Rosario in 1995, and then obtained my PhD from the Facultad de Ciencias Exactas of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata in 2002, thanks to a doctoral fellowship from CONICET.
While finishing my PhD, I began working as a researcher in the Agribusiness and Food Program of the Universidad de Buenos Aires (2001 – 2002), developing computational models of agrifood chains. Subsequently, I worked at the Nuclear Regulatory Authority (2003 – 2007) on projects related to the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, the analysis of environmental samples by gamma spectrometry, and the modeling and calibration of high-purity germanium detectors. In 2004, I also developed a simulation model of the honey export business of BOMARE S. A. Although the subjects were very different, the common thread was the same as in my current work: building computational models and using them to simulate and analyze scenarios.
In 2007, I joined CONICET as an Assistant Researcher at the Instituto de Física de Líquidos y Sistemas Biológicos (IFLySiB), which depends on CONICET and the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, where I currently work, but now as an Independent Researcher and head of the Statistical Mechanics of Liquids and Soft Condensed Matter group.
In 2009 and 2010, I held research stays at the Laboratory of Computational Biophysics and Molecular Modeling of the Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), first with a fellowship from Brazil’s National Laboratory for Scientific Computing and then with a CONICET external postdoctoral fellowship, studying the interaction of integrins with their ligands through molecular modeling. At the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional, I led the Granular Materials Group of the Facultad Regional La Plata (2018 – 2025), and since 2025 I have directed the Centro de Investigación en Mecánica Experimental y Computacional.
As a teacher, I worked between 1993 and 1996 at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (in the faculties of Engineering, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, and Biochemistry and Pharmacy), and also at the Facultad de Ciencias Exactas of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata between 1997 and 2001. In 2005, I started as an Assistant Professor at the Facultad Regional Buenos Aires of the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional, teaching Physics II, and since 2018 I have been working as a Full Professor at the Facultad Regional La Plata of the same university, teaching undergraduate courses (currently Advanced Calculus) as well as graduate courses.
